Nakashima Japanese Restaurant and City Extra Cafe

* I had to rewrite this article cos I accidentally kicked the power supply .. DUh... *

The night is cold and the weather is laughing at us. One moment it would rain like cats and gods, the next minute it would stop and it begins to rain again in the next 3 minutes. However plan is made up and word has been given so there is no turning back.

I meet up with my friend and we took a bus from townhall to the rocks. From there we had to battle the rain to this place

NAKASHIMA Japanese Restaurant

This small restaurant for about 30 people is located secludedly in the rocks area its popularity is spread by word of mouth and word of the internet now LOL ..

The restaurant has two dining area, an outdoor dining area and an indoor dining area.

We arrive there at 7:15 pm and we were seated by the friendly staff and somehow forgetful * I'll explain this later *

We proceed to order 2 entree, the first one is shigiyaki which is an eggplant grilled but still leaving the eggplant juicy enough to be tasted, moreover it's topped with sweet miso paste sauce. It's a miso based sauce but they are sweet and combined very well with eggplant, one of my favourite dish so far.

The second entree, I played safed * as someone who says about it * by ordering spring roll. The spring roll filling is made of bean sprouts and bit's of pork, when you put them inside your mouth you can taste the hot filling just melted in your mouth. A real nice treat on a rainy winter night

We proceed to order sukiyaki a beef based stock hot pot which tofu, spring onion, cabbage, carrot and raw egg to taste.

I played safed again by ordering vinegar fried chicken. It's served as fried powdered chicken topped with sour and sweet vinegar sauce. The chicken is really juicy and crispy at the same time. The taste of sweet and sour vinegar sauce is infused into the flesh of chicken.

We also ordered rice and sake for this meal however the waitress forgotten about it and the sake never arrived. We could have a takeaway sake ~ quote somoeone :P

We then proceed to this nice cafe called city extra located just in circluar quay station. It's a 24 hours cafe.

It's a theme cafe based on busy New York cafe where people are busy dining while reading their NEWSPAPER * I have to emphasize this * I'll explain this later.

You can see the harbour bridge from the second level of the cafe

The area is pretty big and when we arrive there by about 9 pm, the place is half full with about 30 people.

Lowenbrau at the rocks

Sunday night ! Finish working feel like getting some german or deutschland beer damnnn... Call up few friends and ready to prawl into the night ~

Destination

Corner of Playfair & Argyle Streets
The Rocks, Sydney 2000

Cute looking restaurant and the place is bustling with traditional german music and the sweet smell of german beer

All waiter and waitresses wore traditional german attire and you can tell that most of them are german's backpacker. Real good service I would say

We started our dinner with some mango beer which is legendary the sweet taste of alcohol mixed with freshness of mango. I had to order two glasses of beer for that sake !

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My buds ordered some cranberry juices, alcohol free lowenbrau, and apple juice

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We ordered bread dumpling which is very interesting and I would say it is the traditional german starter dish. It's a bread dough top with corriander or parsley and simmer with gravy sauce. Tasteless ... I had to add some salt and pepper to it.

Followed by seafood platter " Nordseeteller ", from the name of it I would be expecting to get the usual fish, fish cocktails, crab stick, chips and tartare sauce instead we got this unique tasting salmon sashimi, half cooked salmon, some biscuits, eel and pickle <--- I'm actually not too sure about it, It looks like snake or something raw ~ I'm too afraid to try it. Amongst the unique seafood platter, our taste bud is delighted by the special thousand island sauce, which is both sweet and sour perfect to conceal the smell of fish

Caesar salad ! nothing special about it except the crispy chicken :P

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The main for our dinner tonight is A PORKY FEST, pork everything ! Schlachplatte " a selection of sausage, schnitzel, roast pork belly, and mash potato ). Which is both massive and tasty at the same time especially the sausage and the pork crankling.

The night is finish of with a black forrest cake perfect with sour cherry ~ quote mavalda

The final blow is delivered by this white bavarian chocolate with some cream on the side. Perfect white chocolate from the moment it touches your taste bud it sends this signal of perfecto.

Pure fun and good food ! Thanks lowenbrau

Ramen Kan at Chinatown

This restaurant at Sydney Chinatown specialise in Ramen, for people who don't know what ramen is. Ramen is a soy, miso, or seafood special noodle soup usually served with pork rashes, vegetables, fried onion, etc. I got invitation from 3 special friends, who are willing enough to ask me out for dinner after a tiring day from work.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The place is your typical bustling japanese restaurant during dinner time. There are about 6 groups ahead of us. We had to wait for about 10 minutes and we got our seat and the service was quick and efficient.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I ordered myself gyoja and ramen, which basically is a rice, gyoja and a miso soup based ramen. The soup base is a little bit too salty for my taste but they are succulent enough. The gyoja is friend and the filling is nice enough.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Melly got herself teriyaki udon and she says that " I can taste the MSG "

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Iswandi ordered teriyaki don with salad and miso soup

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Lim later came and we got ourselves a small cake and hahahah I mean .. really small and mini. Mini everything but it's one of the best cake I have ever had
