Nakashima Japanese Restaurant and City Extra Cafe
* I had to rewrite this article cos I accidentally kicked the power supply .. DUh... *
The night is cold and the weather is laughing at us. One moment it would rain like cats and gods, the next minute it would stop and it begins to rain again in the next 3 minutes. However plan is made up and word has been given so there is no turning back.
I meet up with my friend and we took a bus from townhall to the rocks. From there we had to battle the rain to this place
NAKASHIMA Japanese Restaurant
ph = 92411364
7 cambridge street, the rocks
This small restaurant for about 30 people is located secludedly in the rocks area its popularity is spread by word of mouth and word of the internet now LOL ..
The restaurant has two dining area, an outdoor dining area and an indoor dining area.
We arrive there at 7:15 pm and we were seated by the friendly staff and somehow forgetful * I'll explain this later *
We proceed to order 2 entree, the first one is shigiyaki which is an eggplant grilled but still leaving the eggplant juicy enough to be tasted, moreover it's topped with sweet miso paste sauce. It's a miso based sauce but they are sweet and combined very well with eggplant, one of my favourite dish so far.
The second entree, I played safed * as someone who says about it * by ordering spring roll. The spring roll filling is made of bean sprouts and bit's of pork, when you put them inside your mouth you can taste the hot filling just melted in your mouth. A real nice treat on a rainy winter night
We proceed to order sukiyaki a beef based stock hot pot which tofu, spring onion, cabbage, carrot and raw egg to taste.
I played safed again by ordering vinegar fried chicken. It's served as fried powdered chicken topped with sour and sweet vinegar sauce. The chicken is really juicy and crispy at the same time. The taste of sweet and sour vinegar sauce is infused into the flesh of chicken.
We also ordered rice and sake for this meal however the waitress forgotten about it and the sake never arrived. We could have a takeaway sake ~ quote somoeone :P
We then proceed to this nice cafe called city extra located just in circluar quay station. It's a 24 hours cafe.
It's a theme cafe based on busy New York cafe where people are busy dining while reading their NEWSPAPER * I have to emphasize this * I'll explain this later.
You can see the harbour bridge from the second level of the cafe
The area is pretty big and when we arrive there by about 9 pm, the place is half full with about 30 people.
It also provide an internet service with coined based operation
When I was seated by the staff I'm suprised to find other people's newspaper on my table to my suprise it's the MENU !!
Some picture of the table setting
We ordered a fruit salad, peppermint tea, and a cup of mocha
The toilet is pretty unique in a way * I hate to blog about toilet * but the toilet door is designed to be like newspaper
Some pictures of the friendly staff
Although it's rainy but we did manage to squeeze about few hours of good time and great dining exprience.
Total damage
$ 25
Enjoy the post everybody and have a good day :D
